Visa Please check http://www.nuffic.nl/immigration for the visa
you need before you leave! In general, guests from the USA who stay less than 3
months don’t need a visa. All they need is a
valid passport. If you want to stay longer than 3 months, you need a
residence permit and a work permit. You also have to register with the alien
police, and with the Municipality. If you need a permit, arrange it well in
advance, because it takes a lot of
time! Less than 3
months If you stay less than 3 months,
you need to report to the police within 3 days after arrival. Bring with you: ·
valid passport ·
proof of medical insurance ·
letter of acceptance from the faculty More than 3
months If you stay longer than 3 months,
you need to report to the Register Office within 5 days after arrival. Bring
with you: ·
valid passport ·
proof of medical insurance ·
letter of acceptance from the faculty ·
letter from the housing office concerning your
accommodation and / or rental agreement. If you come with family: ·
copy of marriage certificate ·
copy of birth certificates Hereafter you will receive a
letter (in Dutch) from the alien police attached with some forms that you
have to fill in. You must send all these papers back within 8 days, together
with: ·
copy of your passport ·
proof of medical insurance ·
proof of income ·
letter of acceptance from the faculty ·
2 color passport photographs. After a positive decision of the
alien police you will receive an invitation to collect your Residence Permit.
To be sure bring all the documents mentioned above with you. A Residence
Permit costs about e 258,=. Note that the price is scheduled
to be doubled! |
